Front Garden by the Sea
Jewels Among the Pebbles
This is a sunny, sheltered garden surrounded by old stone walls. The client brought us in to re-invigorate the planting and give the garden a clearer identity.
The old stone and the roses in the rear garden of the house were evocative of La Torecchia - a garden in the ruins of an old village in Italy, We developed this fitting concept re-shaping the lawn and renewing the planting. More roses now climb the old walls, soft, warm colours lift the spirits and fragrance fills the air.
Spring borders were developed in the shadier areas of the garden providing early season interest.
New planting in dramatic drifts of colour move through the summer section of the garden.
The rear seating area now has a more private relaxing feel to it, surrounding the owner with scented roses, jasmine and lilac.
The influence of the nearby sea is stronger in the small front garden, here we introduced new pebbles, drifting different sizes as on a beach. Interesting planting combinations mixing colour and form catch the eye and provide atmosphere.
Again scented climbing roses embrace the front railings suggesting what awaits in the rear garden.
